Welcome to Kampung Parit Bugis, Mukim Sungai Balang, Muar, Johor State. Our village is located about 34km from Muar (Bandar Maharani) and 27km from Batu Pahat (city Penggaram) and can be passed from Parit Yusof Bahru town junction of Jalan Muar-Batu Pahat or Black Water junction of Jalan Batu 20 Muar-Yong Peng .

Parit Bugis village is one of a network that has 12 small village of Parit Masjid, Parit Gantung, Kampung Melayu, Parit Begelen, Simpang Sekolah, Parit Bugis , Parit Nombor 1, Parit  Nombor 2 , Parit Nombor 3, Parit Nombor 4 , Parit Nombor 5 and Sungai Balang Kecil.

This village comprises 401 houses and a population of 2,075 people, the majority are Malay people of Javanese descent. Distribution of the population here comprises 29% of adult males, 33% adult females, 19% of boys and the remaining 19% are girls.

According to history, Drain Bugis were explored in 1904 by the Bugis , led by Daeng Daeng Saribut and Abu Bakr of Riau Islands, Indonesia . At first , the Bugis were open forest here and rubber cultivation . As the rubber is not appropriate in the circumstances peat here at that time, then after a period of five years the Bugis people have left the village and work on open forest here was taken over by people who originated from Java Ponorogo regency , Java Island , Indonesia for oil palm cultivation also .

Java community remained inhabited until the present village whose residents are third or fourth generation of their descendants and through marriage , almost all inter- related. These early settlers also expand this area to form a number of other villages . The first village chief known as Wak Bawok while the chief was named Abu Hassan .




Village administration is led by a Village Development and Security Committee ( JKKK ) which is headed by Mr Saifudin bin Mohd Kadak as village head. JKKK responsible for administering the affairs of the village , determine the development plans to be implemented in the village , evaluate and prioritize projects , as well as be an intermediate in relaying information between the villagers and the government.

In support of policies and efforts to develop the country , hygiene and health and prevention of infectious diseases is a priority at grassroots. Awareness about the practice of using the system flush latrines and waste disposal first. Environmental care is highly emphasized and every resident to ensure all internal and their homes clean and free from mosquito breeding or not letting them tick gardens invite wild animals .

Having secured the population from the threat of disease , aspects of village beauty and harmony are emphasized to make the village as a comfortable residence became a strong base to form a family and community harmony . Planting ornamental trees along the main road and the construction of a replica stone shaped like a durian fruit , corn , pineapple , coconut , oil palm, mangosteen and other objects such as daggers, drums and gongs built in major junctions village.

Economic activities of the villagers is agriculture and livestock based either subsistence or small-scale commercial basis. The main crops are oil palm, coconut , coffee , pineapple , sugar cane and sentang while commercial farming also is of 30,000 pieces of chicken meat and beef by 260 pieces. Some villagers also engage in entrepreneurship in the production of snacks and traditional cakes like TasteSpotting , chips, cookies clamp , claw chicken , tempeh, brown sugar and Sarawak layered cake .




In addition, artistic and cultural heritage is still thickened hearts of locals. This can be seen through the artistic activities associated with customs Javanese society as Barongan , horses predominate , and Kompang Kemplingan allahumagfirli . There were also artistic heritage of Johor and zapinnya ghazal music group , and we are proud of the band our 60's Pop Yeh Yeh " Jody Persona " . This art mostly contiguous and passed to the next generation is still young. Craft -based art works such as shells , wood carving , knife sheath , tops and traditional instruments like drums , harp and drums always stole the tourists who come to our village .
